Their constant comments about my weight are bothering me.

Recently, my family has been constantly commenting on my weight. Sometimes I feel really uncomfortable about it, but because of their opinions, I can't figure out what I should do. Should I defend myself, or should I remain silent on this issue? What do you think I should do?

I think you've been too caught up in the subject 😬

It's the same in our house, constant comments like 'you've gained weight.' In the end, I said, 'I'm a bit uncomfortable about this.'

Do they do this with someone else in the family, or is it just for you?

They generally talk about everyone, but they talk about me more because they think I could still shape up since I'm younger.

but why aren't you making any noise? If you're this uncomfortable, just say so, otherwise it will keep going on.

Generally, constantly bringing up the issue of weight can harm self-confidence. It’s important to clearly express that it bothers you; in communication, if you cut them off, they may approach the situation with more respect.

@pazardandondum but sometimes people don't speak up just to avoid tension, a wrong conversation with family can escalate 😅

I think you should explain your discomfort seriously, calmly. It's a bad habit for them to constantly come at you.

You say clearly once, "I don't want to talk about this," and then you stay quiet and change the subject whenever it comes up. They'll get used to it.

If I think they continue after you mention your discomfort, raise the reaction a bit. For example, when they comment, you could say something absurd like, "I find your hair to be quite short too, for instance." Maybe they don't like such things, but perhaps they would understand in moments like that.
