The hairdresser hacked my hair, I'm devastated

I went to the hairdresser yesterday, and even though I told them to take a little off the ends, they cut it really short. I was literally shocked when I looked in the mirror. My face looks rounder, and my hair has nothing to do with its old state. Of course, I put on my hat and went out, but now I'm wondering if I should go back and complain. Do you think it's worth talking about, or did I just experience something like sabotage?

I had the same thing happen to me. One time I went to the hairdresser and said exactly what you did, "just trim the ends," and the result was a good inch above my shoulders! Even though I explained it carefully, they still didn’t understand. I think you should go talk to them so it doesn't happen again.

But for example, didn't you ever speak up when you noticed in the mirror? If you had said something at that moment, maybe they would have fixed it 😬

I actually mentioned it when I saw it in the mirror, but the hairdresser said, "this looks more modern." So I kept quiet; I didn’t feel like arguing at that moment.

@gizemlihayat yes, but we need to properly describe the word "take" from the ends. A hairdresser is a person after all, they won't understand through telepathy. Did you mention anything about the length measurement? I think that's usually where the problem arises.

In such cases, I always suggest this: ask for the model you want with a photo before you go, actually talk to the hairdresser and show it. When they say, 'It has become modern,' it's an attempt to prioritize their own interpretation. This shouldn't be the case in professionalism, but communication is also lacking.

I think you shouldn't exaggerate this much. Hair grows, after all. If the hairstylist is competent, they'll make decisions based on what you want while cutting, but do they really need to measure it down to the millimeter? It's not such a big deal, really 🙄

@netadam it hurts, but people also don't want to feel bad about themselves in the mirror during that time? A woman's hair length seriously affects her mood, don't look at it that way 🥲

I think you should give it one more chance and talk. A friend of mine experienced the same thing, and when they sat down and talked openly with their hairdresser, they said, 'I'll pay more attention.' They didn't do it again. So, communication issues can be resolved, and if there's bad intent, it will show anyway.

Okay then, I think giving it one more chance, as you said, is the most reasonable thing to do. Otherwise, it feels like I would experience the same thing again. Thanks everyone.
