I asked the hairdresser if she would only trim the ends, and she cut 10 cm.

I went to the hairdresser today and I just wanted to get the ends trimmed; I mentioned it specifically. But the woman cut so much that my hair is literally 10 cm shorter. I waited to see what kind of explanation she would give, but she seemed to not care at all. Now I’ve come home and I feel really bad. I can't even look in the mirror. What would you do in this situation? Could I have said something?

Why did they cut 10 cm? Don't you even notice while it's being cut? I mean, you could have intervened in between saying 'wait a minute', it’s kind of interesting to wait until the whole process is finished.

I think he did it intentionally. I'm sure he thought something like 'this model doesn't look good with long hair' or something like that, and shortened it according to his own preference. If there are people like that, they usually act all artsy.

The same thing happened to my hair. I specifically said 'shoulder length', but the guy literally cut it down to below my ears. Since that day, I've changed hairdressers; now, no one cuts it without asking.

everyone says to just cut the ends, but one thing is, according to the hairdresser, your hair was very damaged and had to be cut that much to fix it. what were the ends like?

@iki_dakika it wasn't actually that broken, I usually get regular haircuts. I don't think there was a situation that would require this much.

@makarnaoncesi here's the thing: Some hair cutting scissors just cut about 5 cm at a time. Even if you notice it there, you'll have to cut even more to fix it. It's a total deadlock.

This happens often in hair salons because most stylists don’t listen to their clients properly or make comments based on technical details. Just say directly, 'If you don’t cut it to my satisfaction, I will note my dissatisfaction,' they can’t do more than that.
