I was left speechless when my hairdresser said, 'You could have been bolder'

I had been thinking about getting my hair cut for a long time, and finally, I mustered up the courage to get a cut that’s right at shoulder length. However, my hairdresser said, "It looks good on you, but you could have been bolder; this is a bit safe." Now I feel like I've done something wrong. Am I really lacking style, or does everyone have their own standard of courage?
