My hairstylist cut my hair by 10 cm, and my confidence is gone

Today, while talking to my hairdresser, I realized that she cut my hair too much when I just wanted to trim the ends. Now my confidence has taken a hit, and I feel like this is going to be tough for me when I look in the mirror. What should I do to get over this, is there anyone who has faced similar situations?

something similar happened to me last month, they cut exactly 10 cm. At first, I literally had a crisis, but after a week you get used to it, and your hair actually looks healthier. I think you should wait a bit.

Why is self-confidence so closely tied to hair color? Is there something else that triggers this feeling? Is it the discomfort you feel when looking in the mirror that completely brings you down?

@bugun_degil yes, I feel a sense of strangeness now because I’ve gotten used to my old self in the mirror. Shorter hair just doesn’t seem to suit me :upside_down_face:

Just because you’re getting used to it doesn’t mean everyone else has to. Maybe they have actually been negatively affected psychologically; we can’t just say it will pass.

Let me speak scientifically now; technically, getting a haircut does not lead to a loss of self-confidence, but changes in visual habits may challenge your perception of identity. Psychologists refer to this as body image change. You can seek support, or just knowing that it is temporary might be enough.

every month in the forum, topics about hairdresser disasters are opened. either change your hairdresser or learn to accept yourself in the mirror. it’s always the same story.

I think it’s just hair, don’t exaggerate it so much.

At some point, you need to question why your hair affects your confidence so much, but if you want a quick fix right now, focus on styling your hair. Maybe you’ll feel better once you find a style that works for short hair. Try blow-drying, waves, or accessories.

I think you’re overreacting a bit because 10 cm is actually not as big of a difference as you think. Maybe your hair had unhealthy ends and the hairdresser just wanted to tidy it up? You might not have taken the time to get used to it to say “It doesn’t look good at all,” maybe you will think differently in a few weeks. In the meantime, try some temporary solutions, but don’t be so hard on yourself.
