My cousin reposted my story with the caption 'we've seen this too'

Those who know my family know that my cousin is quite famous on social media. She loves to say things about everyone’s private life. Last week, I posted a vacation photo by the sea in my story. Today, I saw that she had reposted it with the caption “we saw this too”! I can’t tell if she’s mocking her own followers or giving me a special message. Do you think this is normal, or should I ask her about her intentions?

my aunt’s daughter is like that too, we thought for a while she’d be building a career just by throwing shade in stories. just speak openly, say you were bothered. I would be very surprised if she replies.

Is this the first time? Has he/she done such things to you before?

@kahvebitmeden this isn’t actually the first time, I think there was another story where you gossiped about it in your group. But it wasn’t this widespread.

@biseydiycem but the problem isn’t your cousin, it’s why you’re not reacting. I think this turns into a bit of a “shh, just be quiet” situation.

It’s a very specific thing, but family tracking on social media is really a gray area. If it bothers you, it would have been better to mention it from the start. I can’t say whether there’s an ethical violation in the shared posts, but it creates a problematic dynamic.

There’s a hidden message in this work, but we couldn’t figure it out. I think you should solve it.

@benbisorayim it’s already unethical, it’s a problem to trivialize and spread someone’s private life by saying we saw this too. It may not fall under the legal aspect, but it’s socially wrong.

Even if they did it just for fun with the follower base, it wasn’t nice for them to focus on you. By directly saying, “Such posts disturb me,” you would clarify the underlying message in their mind and also put a stop to such behaviors. However, if you don’t respond, they’ll likely make it a habit to continue.
