I had an interview for a new job today, everything was great, but when it came to the salary part, I totally got carried away and mentioned a number way above the market rate. Their faces looked a bit strange, and I felt like I had exaggerated, but I honestly didn’t back down. Now, I’m really scared they won’t call me back. Do you think asking for a lot in this day and age is a mistake or is it confidence?

1Tomorrow, the first thing you should do is send an email saying the number is open to negotiation. I mean, if those guys made that facial expression, they must have called someone else already
