Is my boss jealous of me, is that why I got fired?

I have been working in the same place for 3 years, and people always said I was good at my job. But last week, I was fired without any reason given. To be honest, I had noticed my boss's strange behavior lately; it was as if they were targeting me. Was my closeness with someone from another department uncomfortable for them, or did they just find an excuse regarding my performance? Can I do anything legally? Does anyone have any ideas?

I think you've experienced a situation that should be discussed openly. If you've been told you're doing well at your job for three years, it's strange that you'd be dismissed last minute without reason. Can you elaborate a bit more on your boss's weird behavior? For instance, did they make any insinuations about someone in the other department? That might be where the motivation comes from.

My girl, I would defend you so much in court, how can such a thing happen? They say you're good at your job, then just like that they fire you. Being a boss is tough, of course, but it shouldn't be this easy to play with someone's hard work. But do check your legal rights, if you got severance pay or anything like that, don’t just let it go.

It’s terrible to go to work happily for 3 years and then feel that tension in the last few weeks. Especially when you feel like you’ve been trying, that makes it even worse. I wish you could have spoken openly with someone there. You’re right, I think there’s something like jealousy in this job too 🤷‍♀️

Speaking of the legal side; check the documents you received regarding your termination letter or compensation. If they said it was a justified dismissal, they are required to write the rationale. Otherwise, you might consider filing a claim in the labor court. The İş-Kur usually helps with these matters, so I suggest consulting them.

Now everyone says they are fine, and you say that too. But if that were the case, why would the boss target you out of nowhere? Maybe you did something wrong somewhere without realizing it. Everyone blames the boss, but you should have kept a little distance in that closeness in the department. You shouldn't let these situations affect the work environment.

Let me update you: It says "intra-company reorganization" in the exit documents. Someone else parted ways for this reason last month. But I clearly remember having uncomfortable interactions regarding the person I mentioned. It's a weird situation. I didn't use any notice period; I was sent directly.

It's common for companies to cite reasons such as reorganization when laying off employees, but that doesn't create a valid justification. Especially if performance-related reasons aren't given, your dismissal without notice could be unlawful. It's important to consult an employment lawyer. Even if you don't file a lawsuit, you'll receive clear information about your rights.

So can you tell me a bit about your closeness with the person in that department; was it a special situation? Because you know it's quite common for bosses to feel uncomfortable about those kinds of relationships. Were there direct insinuative conversations with them, or was it just something you felt?
