He made comments like, 'You do a lot of work, but at the end of the day, this is still a company.' Right now, I'm really confused; I'm genuinely afraid of losing my job, but on the other hand, I want to stand up for my rights.
That sarcastic remark is essentially sending the message, 'you work very hard, but this is all you're worth.' I've experienced it myself; it's a subtle sign that they'll probably keep the salary stagnant.

Statements from your boss like "this is a company too" can often be a sign of budget concerns. But to be clear, ask for another meeting to at least find out their intentions. 😐

I think it's completely normal to want a 25% increase. If you are already working for a low salary, the raise percentage should be high accordingly. If your boss is trying to wriggle out of the budget issue, they are either subtly stalling you or genuinely have problems. But don’t wait too long without discovering their intentions. It won’t get resolved unless you clearly say, "If this option is available, let's find out now, otherwise I need to make plans accordingly."
Asking for a raise is normal, but the issue isn't the percentage, it's how they perceive your place in the company. Do they see you as someone easy to let go? If so, no matter the percentage, the raise will be difficult to achieve. Has this situation ever been discussed?
