Is it true that popular couples seem to have an 'ideal relationship'?

Some couples on social media always appear happy, fun, and harmonious. But I think there might be disagreements, ambitions, or a publicity stunt behind the scenes. Are there really couples who are ‘perfect in every way’? Or is what we see just a facade? Do you think this might make us feel bad about our own relationships?

I had a friend who was always posting perfect pictures with his girlfriend on social media. It turned out the guy was actually seeing someone else, and it caused quite a stir. We were really shocked because they looked just like the “ideal couple.” That’s why I don’t trust these social media situations anymore.

We used to be really close friends, always saying how happy they were and how sweet they were. One day, my girlfriend turned to me and said, ‘They actually fight all the time; they’re just good in front of everyone for show.’ That’s when I realized that we only believe as much as we see from the outside.

Honestly, I don’t really agree with this. Can’t people be happy? We keep saying it’s all fake, but maybe their relationship dynamic is actually fun. Not everyone is bad; you might be generalizing a bit too much :grimacing:

In fact, people carefully choose the things they highlight on social media. They usually don’t share stress or disputes because this can harm their image. It’s difficult for an environment where everything looks perfect to match real relationships. For this reason, it might be healthy to think of social media relationships as a ‘marketing campaign.’

You’re right, maybe I generalized. But we keep seeing so many couples who constantly praise each other, showing that their lives are always “perfect.” Then when I have a disagreement in my own relationship, it feels like something is wrong. It’s as if we need to be like them. I think it’s also a bit of the comparison effect.

So, do you think it’s completely harmful to take examples from these couples? I was about to say that maybe they just have a motivating side. Have you ever tried to benefit from such shares and make a change in your own relationship? :smiling_face_with_tear:

I think the situation is entirely related to our perspective. Are there perfect couples in real life? No. But social media acts a bit like a magnifying glass. Everyone shows their best moment, and we assume it’s normal. It’s nice to draw inspiration, but if we get too caught up in it, it can lead to unnecessary stress.
