They stole my idea for Reels, should I fight for my rights?

Recently, I put a lot of effort into filming and sharing a reel, and some account seems to have taken my idea exactly, almost as if they copied and pasted it. Should I express my dissatisfaction without naming names, or should I try to ignore it? What should one do in such situations, do you have any thoughts?

I’ve had something like this happen to me too. You know, you put in the effort and work hard, then someone else takes the same thing and does it, which is really frustrating. I posted a story without mentioning names – it both relieved me and kept me from having an open conflict with anyone. I think you could give that a try :grimacing:

Honestly, naming names seems to create unnecessary tension. Someone who produces content while being so influenced by others wouldn’t even care if you wrote something. Sometimes, truly not caring can be less exhausting.

The main issue here is whether the idea has been adequately protected or not. So, even if it may seem unethical from an ethical standpoint if it does not create copyright or an open intellectual property right, it can be legally difficult to claim a right. It’s beneficial not to take the matter too personally.

Let me add this, I followed that account a bit, and in general, it seems like they always create content inspired by other accounts. So, it’s not like they’re directly targeting me, but I still got annoyed. Maybe it would be better if I don’t dwell on it as you suggested.

Listen, something similar happened to me too, but then I realized that person wasn’t even following me. Maybe your reels came up in front of them through someone else, they might not have copied you one hundred percent. But if they did it intentionally, I suggest you dig a little deeper; there might be more to it.
