Normally, I don’t tell anyone, but my period pains have become unbearable lately. I had confided a bit in my cousin, saying that’s why I sometimes can’t attend work or family gatherings. It turns out she went and told my mom everything! Now my mom keeps suggesting, “Should we go to a gynecologist?” but to be honest, I’m scared of going to the doctor. I’m also really upset with my cousin. Do you think I’m overreacting?

5I don’t think you’ve been offended at all; it would be a shame if we can’t trust someone we share things with properly anymore. My cousin once shared my private stuff with the family, and I’ve never been able to trust her again. As for your mom, I think you should go see a gynecologist. I was scared too, but a doctor is just a person after all, and it will be good for you.
How is your relationship with your cousin in general? I mean, is he usually this talkative or has he just prepared for this particular situation? If he’s not always like this, maybe there has been a misunderstanding.
@derin_dert yeah, it actually seems like she hasn’t done this for the first time… She’s had to run to my mom for a few small things before. But I think this time it was a more special topic, it felt a bit heavy.
@gizli_kiz I think you are exaggerating. Your cousin might have done it with good intentions; after all, your mom learned about your health issue, right? Things like this should stay within the family, there’s no point in making a fuss. And don’t blow the doctor’s visit out of proportion, it’s just a check-up after all.
If your period pains are this severe, it would be a good idea to get checked. Conditions like endometriosis can be resolved more easily if detected on time. You might be scared, but I think they will reassure you when you talk to the doctor. You can also bring a relative with you, maybe it will be easier with your mom.
