I forgot a pad from my mom during my period

Today I was shopping with my mom, I forgot that I was on my period and didn't think about getting pads. When my mom said, "I've gotten used to these things," it hurt me inside. Yes, she may have gotten used to it, but it was embarrassing for me. At that moment I felt uneasy, but now I'm wondering if I'm going to upset my mom. Do you think this is normal?

It's normal, actually there's nothing to blow out of proportion.

I once forgot too; the topic came up accidentally with my mom at the supermarket. I was embarrassed, but she was completely at ease. Later I realized, it's just something ordinary for them.

Why did she say 'I got used to it'? Have you ever forgotten and experienced something like this before? 🥲

@yazipsildim I mean, yeah, I've forgotten things like this before, but it has never been talked about so openly. That's why I guess I got a bit tense 🤷‍♀️

@kirmizikazak I think there's something that's going to grow, I don't believe everyone is that comfortable. Especially if you have to talk within the family.

It's natural to feel embarrassed in such situations, but it's healthier to talk about these things directly with your mom. Menstruation is a normal process. However, if it's challenging, you could make a list of your needs to help prevent forgetting.

It would be better if you spoke openly. There's no harm in that.

@hatconene you're right, but is it really something to get that worked up about? After all, his mom will understand.

Perhaps Annen has noticed such things before but brushed them aside; now she has spoken directly. She might have been straightforward just to make you feel at ease. What if you take this as a "pay more attention" warning and move on? 🙂
