My period dates have completely changed in the last few months; both the duration and intensity have changed a lot. Honestly, I was scared and shared this with my mom. Thankfully, my mom suggested we go to the family doctor in the neighborhood right away. However, I honestly don’t feel comfortable there; I want to go to a private doctor, but my mom thinks that would be a waste of money. How can I convince her without upsetting her? Can we find a better solution?
I think you’re absolutely right, it’s more sensible to go to a private clinic than to a family doctor. The neighborhood environment is really strange, everyone knows each other. It’s hard to feel comfortable there. I always end up having discussions with my mom about these things too, but usually, I have to go to a private clinic because they don’t even understand my mom.
I think you’re exaggerating a bit. The doctors in the neighborhood already know about the problems and what the government covers. They get paid in private practice and don’t think about the rest. Your mom is right; it would be better if you listened to the experience in the family.
@gelenekci but the reason I’m going to a private one is to request a more comprehensive blood test and stuff. I told the neighborhood doctor about it last year for a different issue, and they didn’t even take it seriously.
Now, here’s the thing: if the neighborhood doctor refers you to a family physician for a specific situation, then that’s fine. For menstrual irregularities, a general examination might be necessary first, so I don’t necessarily see the need for a specialist. But if they’re brushing you off, you can file a complaint with the provincial health directorate.
@soran what do you mean by being taken lightly? Did something else happen? Because sometimes it gets misunderstood or there’s no time in government places, that’s why I’m asking.
@dedikoducu I went when I had the flu, and they looked at me without really looking, saying, ‘You seem to get sick every day anyway.’
@soran but it’s not right to get angry at and badmouth that one person. This system has been around for years; why would so much money go to private care just because that doctor is bad?
