Is it normal for my tongue to be completely white when I wake up in the morning?

Lately, I've been waking up in the mornings with a strange whiteness on my tongue, it seems to go away when I drink something minty, but it sometimes comes back during the day. Could it be due to stress, or could it be something more serious? Is there anyone else in this situation, do you think I should go to the doctor?

I had the same thing happen to me for a while too. When I woke up in the morning, my tongue would be completely white and there was a jelly-like feeling in my mouth. It turned out to be reflux; stomach acid would rise at night and affect my tongue. I recommend visiting a gastroenterologist.

I think you should definitely see an ENT specialist. If it's a fungus or another infection, the whiteness on your tongue may recur continuously. The doctor will already perform a test that clarifies this issue.

How long has this been happening? Is it just the last week or two, or has it been months? You've mentioned you're using a mint drink, but have you ever tried brushing with water or using sparkling water? 🙃

Could the whiteness on your tongue be due to stress? I think there's something else going on here. For example, could it be related to your immune system? Or has your diet been a bit lacking lately?

Current: It's been a week actually, but I haven't had the time to go to the doctor. It doesn't go away when I drink water, but it disappears for a while after mint. I tried brushing, but it didn't completely go away. It also becomes more pronounced when I drink something acidic.

I recommend that you see a gastroenterologist or an internal medicine doctor. It could be oral thrush or a condition related to the stomach. The whiteness might be caused by an imbalance in the flora of that area.

So sometimes people brush off women's health complaints, saying things like it's just stress or to not worry about it. But this is your body, and it's important. Going to the doctor is definitely your right, and I recommend not postponing it.

It's so funny to say "it's just stress" in a situation like this. There's something white in your mouth, it's a physical thing, so of course it needs to be checked. If it turns into something like a fungus, who will be responsible? 😂
