In the last few years, my skin has become very oily because I’ve always been wearing a mask. During that time, I was too lazy to take care of my skin, and now my pores are huge. On one hand, I want to try natural remedies, but would it make sense to spend money on products? Has anyone here gone through a similar process?

8I literally experienced the same thing. During the period when I wore a mask, my chin area got super oily. In between, I tried cucumber masks and sometimes clay masks. But using a regular cleanser for my pores turned out to be more effective. I got a skincare cleansing gel, and it made a big difference.
This is actually a bit of a known thing, meaning it’s caused by not using a mask and not cleaning enough. I think natural recipes are nice, but skincare products deliver results more quickly with regular use. If you can set aside a bit of budget, I think you should give it a try.
I think it’s more about the expectation for us to always be ‘well-groomed’ than this mask. If your pores get bigger, let them grow; that’s not the only measure of taking care of yourself. If you don’t want to spend money on products, that’s your right too. As a society, we need to be a bit more relaxed and accepting of everyone.
You say that your pores have gotten bigger, but has the number of blackheads increased? Also, was your skin oily before the pandemic, or did it become like this later?
I recommend trying a serum with niacinamide for your pores. It helps with oil control and can also reduce the appearance of pores. Also, make sure to use a foaming face cleanser. There are affordable brands that offer these.
You’ve really neglected your skin during the mask period, and that feeling of clogged pores is seriously unpleasant. When you stand in front of the mirror, it’s hard not to feel uncomfortable. But since you want to do something about it now, I think you’ll get it sorted out! ![]()
I noticed from the comments that my skin was already a bit oily, but it got worse during that time because of the mask. Also, yes, I definitely had more blackheads on my face. I might check out that niacinamide serum, thanks.
Girls, I definitely think products should be bought because natural recipes can sometimes cause worse reactions on the skin. Whether things made at home are hygienic is another matter. I’m just saying what I’ve heard from my friends, of course.
