My girlfriend told me to 'gain a kilo,' is she right?

I've recently started focusing on healthy eating and naturally lost some weight. But my boyfriend keeps saying, 'You've lost too much weight; you were better before.' It's been on my mind—do you think how I look from the outside is as important as my boyfriend's opinion? Or should I be doing it solely for myself? Have you ever experienced something like this?

I experienced the same thing, my love didn't say "gain a kilo" but would say things like "you look very thin, your face looks pale.” Honestly, I didn't pay much attention to it at first, but later my blood values came back low. So I suggest you check your health as well as your appearance.

My ex-boyfriend was always in the "dress this way, do that" mode for a while. At some point, the criticism I received felt like an interference in my freedom. If they're just expressing an opinion, it's not a problem, but if they're constantly pressuring me, it's time to stop and think 🫣

I think this is a bit mutual, you know. I mean, I also got into dieting, and since I lost a little weight, my friends said things like "you were already thin enough." At some point, you become sensitive to all the comments coming from outside. But if it's your partner, they really need to choose their words more carefully.

I might be looking a bit harsh, but don't get me wrong. You say you lost weight for your health, alright. But your partner should also find you attractive, after all, your reason for existence isn't just health, there should be attraction too, right? It seems like there needs to be mutual balance.

my partner said, 'gain a kilo.' this is a common situation, but maybe it helps to talk openly about it with him. they might be feeling pressure regarding their appearance.

Let me add this: since I've lost weight, my energy is higher and I feel better than before. But the fact that he keeps saying "you looked so nicely full back then" is confusing me. It makes me feel like he liked me more back then. Am I wrong?

she wants you to be like that because she found you more attractive before. But the real issue is this: she says, 'you've lost too much weight,' so is she comparing you to someone else? Maybe you don't realize you're being influenced from the outside 😬

The classic question now is this: is the issue of weight a health concern or an aesthetic one? In partner relationships, people always enter into certain expectations, but if things turn into pressure here, it's no longer a healthy form of communication. You need to express this clearly and make your boundaries known.
