My girlfriend danced with her ex at the wedding

This week I went to a friend’s wedding with my girlfriend. There, she saw her ex-boyfriend and clearly got tense, but tried to act like she wasn’t. Anyway, when it was time to dance, they said “let’s have a dance” to everyone, and she got up and danced with that girl. I was incredibly upset, but I couldn’t say anything in the moment. Do you think I’m overreacting, or was it really disrespectful?

It’s really not normal, honestly. If it happened to me, I would intervene directly. What does it mean to dance with your ex? I mean, they say it’s a friend environment or whatever, but it’s just not nice. You’re there as their partner, after all.

Did that girl invite you to dance, or did your girlfriend get up on her own? Has she ever made a move like this before?

@kahvebitmeden I think the girl made an offer, I didn’t hear clearly. But my girlfriend got up without hesitation, I mean. She had never done something so clear before

@biseydiycem it seems like you’re overreacting. That place is a shared space, and after all, it was a wedding dance. I think making a big deal out of this reflects your insecurity.

It might seem odd to some, but sometimes there can be boundary issues with ex-partners. At social events like weddings, people tend to act with group pressure and politeness in mind. However, if this has caused you a problem, it’s important to talk about it.
