My girlfriend asked for money, my trust is shaken...

Girls, my girlfriend asked me for money. Honestly, this is the first time something like this is happening; we were just talking about her expenses and she hadn't mentioned that her situation was bad. Now I'm thinking, if I give it to her, what if she doesn't pay me back? Would it damage my trust in her? Or should I think that this is just part of the relationship? What do you think I should do? Does giving a loan damage trust?

So how much did he ask for? If it's a small amount, like 100-200 lira or something, maybe he needed it right then and there. But if it's a significant amount, shouldn't you discuss a repayment plan or something?

From a man's perspective, asking for money usually becomes a matter of pride. Maybe he really is in a tough spot but hasn't been able to say it. You mentioned you just talked about his situation, so he might have only just gathered the courage 🙄

Here's the thing: when lending money to someone, the fundamental rule is to always communicate in writing and clarify the repayment date. You mentioned that if they don't pay back, in such cases, having written correspondence serves as proof. Whether your relationship will be affected is debatable, but make sure to protect your money.

I thought about it a bit, and actually, the amount isn't that big, he asked for 500 lira. But it feels like my trust would be shaken if he doesn't pay it back. I'm surprised because he's never done anything like this before.

To be honest, I think things like this have been against the nature of the relationship from the very beginning. If money issues come up before love and trust are established, it will be hard for this to end well. Even families have issues with such matters after all 🫢

There's another issue here. You've discussed his financial situation before, but why didn't he say it was bad back then? Maybe the debt belongs to someone else, or he's going to use that money for something he can't tell you about. I think you should press a bit harder on it 😐
