Why is my girlfriend avoiding getting tested?

I just can't resist the medication and I'm scared. My partner also thinks I'm exaggerating this situation and is avoiding getting tested. But this uncertainty is putting us all under pressure. What do you think I should do?

I experienced something similar back in the day; my partner also took those test situations very lightly. In the end, they didn't understand my concerns and it ended badly. A person either gets it or they don't; forcing it doesn't work.

the main problem here is that they belittle your fears by saying you're 'exaggerating' them. Sure, that test event might be important, but if you don't value a person's feelings, what remains in the relationship?

But if you get tested and then the results come back clean, maybe your partner will appreciate you a bit more. For now, I think it's best to sit down and talk calmly.

I'm sorry, but I sensed something different from here. It's strange that your partner is avoiding this so much... is there something they're afraid of regarding the test?

@cokdaseyapma actually doesn't avoid getting tested for the first time, he generally doesn't like things like this. But this issue is serious after all.

@aklimkaldi then this must have been a bad sign for you from the start. If they're so irresponsible in everything, they'll cause problems in other things too tomorrow 😅

By the way, the issue with testing could be a tendency to avoid anxiety. Some people prefer to ignore it to avoid health problems. Perhaps you could suggest that they seek support from a professional.

@romantik_nostaljik why did you immediately go into breakup mode? Sometimes even if there are a couple of issues, people can change. It doesn't always have to mean waving the white flag right away.

I think it's a bit weak to explain running away from the test with health concerns. A person cares about the question marks in their partner's mind. At the very least, they should clearly explain what they are so opposed to.

Instead of reducing the conversation to a test issue, we need to look into whether there is a breakdown in communication. If they brush you off by simply saying "I don’t like it," that’s a serious problem. Avoiding an explanation seems like a way to create some distance.

So how important is this test issue for you? Because if you say it's "essential," its failure becomes a bigger problem. But if you say "we can manage," it might take a bit more effort from you, so be ready.
