I experienced something similar as well, I really struggled with the scars. In the end, I went to a dermatologist, who recommended chemical peels, and after a few sessions, I noticed a big difference. Nothing I did with creams at home worked 
Bende madecassol worked quite well, but I used it continuously for a long time. In fact, the pharmacist also recommended a skin-renewing serum, and I used it together with that. If you haven’t tried it, I suggest you check it out.

Dermatologists are better able to guide you on procedures like laser treatment or microneedling. The products you get from pharmacists may only be effective for superficial scars.
Let me update you, actually a friend of mine went for laser treatment and I thought about it too, but I decided against it thinking it was a bit expensive. Solving it at home seemed easier, but as you said, it didn’t really help.
You mention laser, but is everyone’s skin the same? Plus, there are side effects that people tend to forget about. Maybe starting with a lighter method would be better. There’s no guarantee for spending that much money, right?
