Which is more effective for acne: serum or mask?

I’ve recently developed quite a bit of acne on my face, especially my cheeks are really messed up. I’ve been thinking about adding a serum to my evening skincare routine, but at the same time, these masks are being highly praised. Should I do both at once or should I try one first? What do you recommend?

I went through the same thing, my cheeks were completely wrecked. I can say that I managed to recover just by using serum. I got a serum that contains AHA/BHA and used it in the evenings, it really helped a lot. But if your skin type is oily, I would recommend asking a dermatologist; it worked for me with my dry skin.

Well, instead of just a serum or mask, could it be that a product you used triggered it? For example, your cleanser might be too harsh, or if you changed your moisturizer, that could also be a factor. I think you should investigate the cause first, then check if it’s the serum or mask.

First of all, pimples in the cheek area are usually related to stress, hormonal issues, or the wrong product choice. When deciding between a serum and a mask, it’s important to choose the one that is actually effective for the skin problem. Masks provide a more short-term effect (for example, clay masks reduce oiliness), while serums offer a long-term solution. Consulting a dermatologist is the best course of action.

Actually, I noticed that I’ve been trying out a new sunscreen for a couple of weeks. I’ve started to wonder if it might be related. I’m thinking about stopping the use of that cream and giving my skin a bit of a break. I will get a serum, but I guess I’ll try this new thing first.

Did these pimples appear suddenly or did they increase gradually? Also, are there any in other areas, like the forehead or chin? It would be easier to make suggestions based on that, as each area’s issue can be different.
