I have a problem with acne, and I don’t feel comfortable going out without wearing foundation. But on the other hand, I’m afraid that wearing foundation will make it worse. Should I never give up this habit, or should I try to make peace with my natural state? What would your perspective be?

5I was really reliant on foundation for a while because my face was seriously covered in acne. Honestly, the more I tried to cover it up, the worse it got because my pores got completely clogged with foundation. I went to a dermatologist, and with a suitable care routine, I really improved. In your case, maybe a similar path could be a solution.
So, I get that it can be hard to come to terms with your natural self, but not being able to go outside without so much foundation on feels a bit… off. Let’s not be hard on ourselves, but we shouldn’t be that carefree either. I think feeling this dependent is what’s making you sad, so why do you think you got so caught up in this? ![]()
Actually, most foundations can be more taxing on your skin, especially when you have acne. Even if you choose non-comedogenic products, using them continuously every day can still cause irritation. If you see a dermatologist, they will also analyze the products you use, and maybe after that, you’ll worry less.
Let me also add that I had chosen the foundation I use as oil-free, but to be honest, I didn’t get a professional opinion. My friends said the pimples usually appear on my cheeks and could be hormonal. But whenever I go out comfortably, it genuinely affects my mood negatively.
I think it seems like you’re not just afraid of the foundation, but also worried about what others might think. Is someone coming up to comment, or is it something you’re feeling entirely on your own? The breakout on your cheeks could also be related to stress; have you ever considered that?
