Social media detox or just seeking attention?

For a few days now, a friend of mine has made a statement on social media like “don’t look for me, I’m taking a break”, but I noticed that they were active on another account within two days. So is this really a detox or just seeking attention? Why do you think people do such things?

A few years ago, I experienced something similar. I was sad when a friend announced that they were leaving social media, only to find out later they had created another account without telling me. Turns out, they had done it to avoid adding me. Maybe your friend is also reacting to someone in particular?

I generally don’t believe those who say “don’t find me,” because most are just trying to attract attention for a short time. Since they can’t even last three days, I don’t think it’s really a detox or anything. It seems more like they’re just trying to draw attention.

So how did you notice that new account? It seems that when you closely track someone’s moves, these things become more noticeable. Maybe it’s time to question your relationship with them.

The psychological background of this might be a need for attention or social media addiction. If they are constantly opening new accounts, they may seek support from a specialist with a digital detox plan. Particularly, psychologists have specific techniques they recommend on this matter.

Let me add, the person I call a friend isn’t very close to me, but we see each other often. They’ve made similar statements before and then backtracked. But this time, I’ve really been thinking about why they’re acting this way

If they do these things often and it bothers you, why not try talking directly to them? Something like, ‘If you’re going to delete your account, why are you making such a big deal out of it?’ If they’re sincere, they’ll explain; if not, they might get upset, but at least you’ll have clarity.

I don’t understand when people became so attached to social media. In the past, there weren’t account closures like this. Either use it properly or stop; there’s no need to dramatize it so much.

So it’s just hilarious that they opened a new account. If they’re detoxing, why are they active elsewhere? What they’re doing seriously looks like they’re just trying to get attention. I’ve got friends who do this too, but I just don’t take them seriously.
