People who stopped following after watching my stories

Recently, I’ve noticed that a few people are constantly watching my stories but don’t even reply to messages, yet they’ve unfollowed me. Honestly, I’m a bit annoyed, but at the same time, I’m confused… Is this passive-aggressiveness or am I overthinking it? In a situation like this, should I call and ask them, or should I just let it go?

Something similar happened to me. A friend was constantly checking my stories but one day they stopped following me. I straightforwardly asked, and it turned out they were thinking about quitting using it but continued to check out of habit. Honestly, sometimes people’s intentions are not as bad as we think.

I think you shouldn’t search or write at all. Just block them directly, because these kinds of actions are usually little manipulations. Someone who watches and then writes but is not following has bad intentions, in my opinion.

But now, are you taking it too far? After all, in social media, you can’t interfere with who hangs out with whom when. Watching stories shouldn’t be equated with following someone, right? And what if it slipped their attention?

This could actually be passive-aggressiveness. The way someone interacts on social media varies based on the level of intimacy. If this person isn’t bothering you, meaning there’s no other bad signal, they’re probably not consciously trying to provoke you. It might be healthier to ignore it rather than overthink.

Today I wrote to someone privately and tried to understand if they had any problems. When they saw my message, they were quite surprised and said, ‘Oh, I accidentally removed you while cleaning up my contacts.’ Honestly, I’m still not sure, but I’m trying not to care too much about it anymore.

So, can we elaborate a bit more on this topic? Because following someone has almost become a sign of friendship now. Do you think unfollowing someone really implies something negative about that person? Or are we exaggerating social media interactions?
