Last night I noticed that about 200 people suddenly unfollowed me on Instagram. I didn’t share anything extreme, and I didn’t have any arguments with anyone. Could it be the algorithm? Or did someone say something about me? Has anyone experienced something like this?
Something similar happened to me too. It turns out fake accounts filled up my profile, and Instagram deleted them all. Could you have some bot accounts as well? I think you should check.
What kind of logic is this? Do you really believe everything they call an algorithm? I think something is going on in the friend group; does so many people really unfollow at the same time for no reason?
Instagram is now regularly scanning for bot accounts. If these accounts are following you, they may have been removed in bulk. If not, it’s possible that some content or profile detail of yours might have come off as off-putting to people. Pay attention to the reactions to your posts.
Let me update you: That “too much sharing” comment I mentioned actually came from a few more people. But I still don’t post constantly, maybe the stories just could be too much. I wonder how little I should share? ![]()
So how did you figure out so clearly that you were unfollowed, are you using an app? Also, have you thought about why the last thing you posted might have drawn so much attention?
If 200 people went together, maybe showing yourself as you are may have seemed too much for some? But this is not your fault; due to societal perceptions, people cannot tolerate honesty.
I said, “Maybe she commits a sin and appears on Instagram.” They were saying something like that, that followers were leaving. Is this true?
Honey, let me tell you, sharing too much and being everywhere doesn’t always lead to good things. If you speak less and more concisely, no one will pay too much attention to you. If you were my daughter, I’d say ‘don’t stress yourself out so much’ ![]()
