Should I go to therapy or will everything just pass?

I've been feeling like I can't breathe lately. I feel like I'm constantly doing something wrong, but I can't talk to anyone about it. I'm really hesitant about going to therapy; I'm scared of what others might say, and I guess I'm a bit embarrassed as well. Has anyone been in a situation like this? What are your suggestions?

I think you definitely need to go to therapy because that feeling of not being able to breathe you described is not normal at all. I went through something similar in the past, and I really improved with therapy. That feeling of embarrassment goes away over time; it gets easier when you believe in it.

I'm a student, but quite a few of my friends at university go to therapy. Nobody thinks it's weird anymore. Honestly, I wouldn't care what others say. I think you should try it; it might help more than you think.

Let me be clear, if you're ashamed of seeking help, I think you're totally justified. When people hear that someone goes to therapy, they immediately start labeling them. Especially in the neighborhood, everyone talks about you. Couldn't you solve it a bit more on your own?

Here's what you can do: First, talk to your family doctor and get a referral. You can also choose a private psychologist directly. There are online counselors available, and no one will even notice. Don't expect heavy stuff in the first step; as therapy progresses, you'll start to understand better.

This situation you're experiencing may be stress-related, but going to therapy is definitely a safe way in terms of privacy. Therapists work under ethical guidelines, and your information remains confidential. There's no need to be afraid; if you want, you can try an introductory session.

Let me add this too, I actually looked up a few psychologists online but still don’t have the courage to start. It feels like I would be embarrassed if someone finds out. The thing I mentioned about not being able to breathe sometimes also wakes me up at night.

So when exactly do you feel this feeling of not being able to breathe? You mentioned it wakes you up at night, but do you feel anything in the mornings as well? Did this start after any specific event, or has it always been there?

Okay, friends, everyone has suggested therapy, but sometimes a person can find a way to overcome things on their own. Is it right to push everyone into therapy? What we really need in society are support mechanisms; instead, we're closing the issue with individual solutions like therapists.
