My aunt showed my girlfriend's story to my mom

Last evening, my aunt called me over and showed me my boyfriend’s posts on social media. I felt like she was exposing me by saying, ‘Look what your boyfriend has done.’ I believe it’s very disrespectful to interfere in such a private matter. How should I react? How can I defend myself in this situation?

this happened to me too, my cousin would carry the gossip about me at work to my mom. then they literally questioned every move I made. I directly asked her why she was doing this. she just evaded it

Honestly, I don’t think your aunt did anything wrong. After all, you’re family, and knowing the actions of someone you care about is for your own good. Who knows, maybe she wanted to warn you after seeing something concerning :woman_facepalming:

What kind of logic is this? It’s ridiculous for your aunt to know what your girlfriend shared, and it’s completely unnecessary to pass it on to your mom. An adult woman shouldn’t be treated like a child

The best thing is to talk it out. I think you should speak directly with your aunt to learn why she did this. But it’s important to stay calm so that these kinds of things don’t escalate.

So what exactly was that thing you said about your boyfriend’s story? Can you explain it a bit? Maybe we think your aunt noticed something odd, but we’re arguing for no reason.

@pazardandondum it wasn’t really that interesting, my girlfriend went to a concert with her friends. My aunt showed this to my mom and said, ‘look, your daughter’s boyfriend is having fun.’ She exaggerated it for no reason

@kahvebitmeden I think this is an overly protective attitude. Even if they have family, one shouldn’t interfere so much in everyone else’s life. She needs to be put in her place.

talk it out and let it end.
