Why is it so hard to end a toxic relationship?

I really don’t know, you share things with someone but at the same time you’re constantly tired of being manipulated. A friend of mine said, ‘You’ve become addicted, this isn’t love.’ But it’s not that easy to break the connection. Why do you think we hold on to such people? Is everyone like this a little?

I experienced the same thing; after every fight, he would say, ‘But I’m doing this because I love you.’ At some point, one really believes that it’s love. I ended it, but it took me months to get over it because I constantly felt guilty.

I swear it’s exactly like that, you can’t break away. Mine said, ‘So many people can’t love you, you can’t do without me.’ It’s like it gets ingrained in your brain, you don’t even realize it.

What kind of logic is that, saying “is everyone a bit like that”? No, not everyone is like that; there are plenty of healthy people out there. Have you never lived with someone who respects their own space?

This may be referred to as trauma bonding. When manipulation is persistent, a person can enter a cycle similar to addiction. This increases the other party’s power. In cases where trauma therapy is received, positive results can be achieved.

Let me add this, everything actually started very quickly. It was one way at first, and now it’s just as complicated. I keep feeling like I’ve done everything wrong. I can’t be sure if I’m the only one to blame

There’s something else going on here; it’s manipulation or something, but you’re attached enough to create an addiction. Maybe there’s a deficiency in your past, which is why you might have perceived those attitudes as love :smiling_face_with_tear:

“Nah, if everything were just stemming from past shortcomings, we would all be doomed. People might just be trying to adapt; after all, it’s not easy to disrupt the status quo.
