Follow trends or create your own style?

I always find myself indecisive when shopping. On one hand, I want to buy the pieces everyone else is wearing, but on the other hand, I lean towards less popular items just to look different from them. Then I start to think, if I wear this, will they say I'm not following fashion? I literally can't decide whether my style or the trends are more important. What do you do, are you following the current trends?

I’m actually like you; I once bought a crop top just because everyone was wearing them, but then it ended up sitting in my closet. It really wasn’t my style. After that, I realized that whatever I feel comfortable in is what I should wear. Following fashion is nice, but I don't think you have to wear something just to match.

Honestly, you come across as a bit contradictory to me. Why think you'll gossip about trends while wanting to be different? I think you need to decide what you really want. Because style isn't just about clothes 🫠

So, have you ever worn those "less preferred" things? If so, how do people react? Or do you find it hard to muster the courage to wear them after buying? 🫢

Why do you think they say you 'don't follow fashion'? It's your choices that make you who you are. How can you believe that the things you wear to gain others' approval are your style? It seems like you care too much about what others think 😬

Following trends is actually a very natural thing from a psychological perspective. We feel socially accepted. But that doesn't mean every trend will suit you. In my opinion, when shopping, ask yourself: Does this piece make you happy, are you really going to wear it? If the answer is 'no', don't buy it just because it's trendy.

I've noticed that both sides are somewhat dominant in me. Sometimes I try to fit in with the group to avoid being alone, and other times I just want to show myself. But I still haven't figured out how to balance the two.

There's a bit of social circle involvement for me here. I mean, since you're focused on the "they might say you're not following trends" part, it seems like you have quite a few critics around you. Maybe you should question your surroundings a bit? 😂
