My close friend posted a story without permission

I saw that my friend shared a photo we took on a special day of ours on their Instagram story without my permission. It was important for me that the photo remained private, and I had told them that too. I immediately asked them to delete it, but I felt very uncomfortable. How do you think one should react in such a situation? Didn’t this action shake my trust in them?

Because of the prevalence of such things, I always say not to share it whenever I’m going to share something private. Maybe they forgot at that moment, or maybe they didn’t fully understand the ‘private’ part :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Was there something in that photo that was too private to share? Like the clothing, the angles, the setting, or something?

What I meant by privately is that it was something a bit more personal. There was a detail in the photo related to that day that I didn’t want anyone to see.

I don’t see this as an event that should be blown out of proportion. The story gets deleted in 24 hours anyway, so I think you shouldn’t be so harsh on your friend :woman_facepalming:

The key issue here is consent. If you clearly stated that it was private, then this counts as a violation of personal boundaries. Trust is very important on social media, so try talking to them again.

This guy is really bad, isn’t he? It feels like he’s secretly messing with someone’s stuff. I’d be really hurt if I were in that position.

@soncaykaldi is trying to explain the user’s sensitivity; the magnitude of the event is relative. People don’t just look at the story as if “it will be deleted anyway.”

I would directly block someone like that.

The topic is ‘has trust been shaken’ but the details are very unclear. What was the clearer line? Or is everyone right in their own way?
