If someone you've just met asks you to wake them up in the morning, is that flirting?

Imagine someone you're just getting to know has messaged you several times, “Will you wake me up in the morning?” Does that feel like an excuse to build intimacy, or just asking you for a small favor? Can you conclude from this message alone that they like you?

I don’t think it counts as a sign of flirting on its own. But if they expect it from you every morning, that’s weird.

Asking once could be an excuse to start a conversation, but if it becomes a habit, it’s hard to read a romantic meaning into it. For example, if they keep relying on you instead of setting their own alarm, it could look more like leaving the task to you than trying to get closer. I’d look at the rest of the messages and whether the interest is mutual.

@asuda123, this is the part I’m hung up on too: asking once is different from making it a regular expectation. But would it come across as too serious to ask directly, “Are you specifically asking me to do this, or are you joking?”

You can ask, of course, but I’d first look at how they said it. If they wrote it jokingly, it’s easy to play along and keep the conversation going; if they’re really counting on you to wake them up, it’s perfectly reasonable to tell them to set their own alarm too.

You can’t draw a definite conclusion from one message. Their behavior afterward says much more.
