Job offer abroad and my spouse's disability

You’ve caught a good opportunity, but it’s also important to understand your spouse’s feelings. Perhaps you could face it together and find a solution that satisfies both sides.

I went through a similar situation back in the day. When I changed cities for my career, my spouse had a tough time; we didn’t have a baby, but the impact of being away from family was significant. If you can handle that, I would say go for it.

How long is this offer for? Is it long-term or project-based or something like that?

@kahvebitmeden they are offering a non-term contract, meaning something long-term :melting_face:

@makarnaoncesi but here the baby situation is very different, family support seems unavoidable. Are you going to burden your spouse by handling the baby all alone?

Honestly, both sides have valid points. Support is important during such a time, but it can be tough when career opportunities slip away. It might be a good idea to consider seeing a family therapist and making a joint decision.

I can’t go; this period is critical.

Do you have a chance to propose remote work? Maybe a solution can be found this way.

Have you tried explaining everything to your spouse in writing clearly? I mean, the expected financial benefits, the long-term risks, how sustainable life is here… Sometimes people skip details in verbal conversations; seeing it in writing can have a different impact.
