I haven't had my period for 3 months, what could be the reason?

Hi girls, I'm 26 years old and I haven't had my period for 3 months. I'm going through a stressful time, but I've never experienced such a long delay in my period before. I don't think there's a possibility of pregnancy because I haven't experienced anything like that. What should I do? Is this something concerning or could it be caused by stress?

I went through a similar period too; I didn't have my period for about 2 months. My prolactin levels came out high. It can be triggered by stress as well, but it would be good to get a clear check with an endocrinologist because hormonal imbalances can lead to serious issues.

Three months is quite a long time, it feels like it shouldn't take this long with stress. Moreover, I don't think it's normal for a woman your age to have this much irregularity. Definitely don't neglect it, see a doctor. There could be other things besides pregnancy.

Menstrual irregularities are generally related to hormonal causes or conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome. You should see a gynecologist, but it's also important for your doctor to request hormone testing. Even your thyroid hormones can affect this because problems lasting this long can sometimes indicate an underlying condition.

Girls, you're right, I was a bit panicked, to be honest. Pregnancy is already impossible, but I hadn't thought about the hormone tests at all. I did some research, and prolactin and thyroid seem pretty important. Should I start with the gynecologist or go straight to the endocrinologist?

I think you should go to gynecology first. They will refer you to endocrinology if necessary. Make an appointment for irregular menstruation complaints; you can request hormone tests. Don't just brush it off by saying it's stress, because if there's another issue underneath, it could grow.

In such a situation, the impact of stress can be significant, but not having any for three months in a row is on a different level. It’s like the body is literally screaming for help. Do you feel any extra fatigue when you wake up in the morning or during the day? These things happen too when hormone levels drop.
