Should my tradition be visible on social media?

Recently, some influencers have been sharing their menstrual cycles and even the products they use on social media. It feels like a violation of privacy to me, but on the other hand, it could be a good step towards breaking taboos. What do you think?

I sometimes talk about these things with my friends at university, but it feels excessive to share them on social media. I mean, it’s fine to talk with your close circle, but it’s weird for it to reach your followers.

I think breaking taboos is nice, but it depends on the boundary at which they are broken. For example, if I showed a product in a story, I would die of shame; relaxed people seem very brave.

So why do they feel the need to share such personalized things to break taboos? Where do we place human privacy, is there really no limit?

Actually, this situation is somewhat related to social norms. The topic of menstruation is often one that is shrouded in shame, so it’s understandable that they want to make it more visible. However, it is difficult to find a balance when it comes to the violation of individual privacy.

Let me add this too, how should I put it, for example, they put the pad brand in their stories. That bothers me. It feels like an advertisement. Do you think this is special or is it an ad?

I swear those foot stories are definitely an advertisement. Otherwise, why do you think everyone started sharing them all at once? They’re probably pulling a trick.

As men, we often find these kinds of things disturbing. But do you know why? Because our awareness is already weak due to taboos surrounding this issue. It always makes me think.

These things undermine our values as a society. My child, such matters should be shared with your spouse, not on social media. Our families raised us this way, that’s why it feels strange.

I actually understand you. In those stories, showing the product is a kind of courage, but as you said, it also feels like it goes against sincerity. I would also feel a bit strange if I saw it, like I was witnessing something special.
