Which is more hygienic during menstruation: tampons or pads?

Girls, I’ve always been one to use pads, but this time a friend suggested I try tampons. She claims they are more comfortable and hygienic, but I just can’t seem to get on board with it. Do you think real hygiene makes a difference, or is it just a habit? Also, based on the experiences of those who use them, do they affect pain or anything like that?

To be honest, I was hesitant to use tampons at first, but after getting used to them, I realized they were much more comfortable. Especially when exercising, dealing with pads can be really bothersome. However, for hygiene, it’s necessary to change them every 4-6 hours; otherwise, the risk of infection increases.

I think there’s a hygienic difference between pads and tampons when it comes to usage details. With pads, you provide external protection, but they can create a bad smell if you sweat, while tampons prevent leakage from the inside. But not everyone can use them; if you’re hesitant, I’d recommend consulting your doctor.

So now think about it this way, everyone is already used to external protection with a pad. Why is there a need to insert something inside? I think they exaggerate tampons and stuff unnecessarily. Plus, not everyone likes to talk about stuff like this openly in society.

You’re actually right, the pad is quite uncomfortable while doing sports or something. But I’m also worried about whether I can ensure complete sterility when using a tampon. Plus, the application part seems a bit daunting to me.

If your fear is related to the application, you can try a tampon with an applicator, as it allows for insertion without touch. There are also doctors who recommend tampons regarding hygiene, but if you exceed the replacement times, there could be risks like toxic shock syndrome. I suggest you do thorough research before starting.
