Girls, does it happen to you too? Everyone praises tampons so much, but I just can’t get used to them. Pads are also uncomfortable, but at least I feel safe with them. On the other hand, they say tampons are more hygienic. Which do you think makes more sense? Does your choice of underwear change accordingly?

6I also tried using a tampon for the first time in college; people said it was super comfortable, but I couldn’t really get used to it. It feels like I’ve forgotten something all the time. A pad seems less risky to me, even though it can cause issues with my laundry, I’ve gotten used to it now.
I love pads; they’re really comfortable at the beach and stuff. But I can’t use them all the time; you have to pay a bit of attention to hygiene. Especially if you’re going to hold it for long hours, it can be quite scary. To be honest, I still prefer using pads on the days when my period is heavy.
You say everyone is praising the tampon now, but I think it’s a bit of a marketing ploy. They push it under the guise of ‘modern’ on the internet, but I believe everyone should choose what’s right for them. Calling it hygienic with a scare tactic feels strange to me. If you’re so uncomfortable with pads, maybe look at different sizes too.
Actually, both options have their advantages and disadvantages. While tampons carry a risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS), they are safe when changed at the right intervals. Pads can sometimes cause irritation because they restrict airflow. In terms of hygiene, where and how you use them is actually more important. The decision depends on your comfort.
As you said, I think it also has to do with not being able to find the right product. For example, I’m trying a brand, and the tampon hurts. Also, I can’t stand the pad in hot weather at all. If you have any suggestions, I’ll consider them.
As far as I’m concerned, the exaggeration of this tampon is entirely due to the pressure of urban life. Everyone is literally in a competition to throw shade at each other just to seem modern. We’ve had no issues with pads for years. If you’re uncomfortable, why are you forcing yourself? Life continues just fine with pads in beautiful Anatolia.
