Hey girls, I always used pads during my period, but lately, I’ve become really curious about tampons. On one hand, people say they’re practical, but on the other hand, I’m scared that if I don’t place it correctly or if I get an infection or something like that. Do you think it’s really more comfortable or unnecessary? Can those who have tried it share their experiences?

9I’ve been using tampons for years, and they’re really comfortable, especially on days when I’m out. At first, I was scared, just like you, thinking I wouldn’t be able to place it correctly, but once you get used to it, it’s super practical. Just pay attention to the brand; choose from the reliable ones.
I started trying it last year, and honestly, it was really difficult with the pad while exercising, so I switched to the tampon. But when I’m home, I tend to go back to the pad. My suggestion to you is to start with a small size, you’ll have less stress ![]()
I think you should stay away from things like that. A pad is already sufficient, and there’s no point in dealing with a tampon and increasing the risk of infection. My mom used to say, ‘prefer the natural option’; pads are clearly healthier.
The use of tampons generally does not carry risks when proper hygiene rules are followed, but conditions like TSS (toxic shock syndrome) can arise, especially if they are not changed for long periods. It is recommended to change them every 4-6 hours and to avoid using them overnight. However, if you are still unsure, it is best to consult a gynecologist.
You tried, but did you research the brands? Or have you thought about which environment you would feel more comfortable in for your first try? Maybe if you trust it completely, you could try it out at home first.
I should add that I think I’ll probably use it when I go outside. Otherwise, it seems like there’s really no need for it at home. But the question in my mind is, what if I can’t place it correctly or if I don’t feel comfortable… I guess it won’t be solved without trying.
At first, there might be a bit of an adjustment period, but don’t worry, you shouldn’t even feel it. If you feel uncomfortable while the tampon is inside, it’s either not positioned correctly or the size isn’t right for you. Try a mini size and also practice with a mirror at first.
I swear, these fears about the tampon are totally normal; everyone goes through it at first. But actually, it becomes pretty ordinary once you get used to it. I think the infection issue is exaggerated too; if you’re careful, you won’t have any problems. I also guarantee that you’ll be comfortable outside at the same time.
For years, they made women think of tampons as a bad thing through risk. The main issue is the lack of access to accurate information about these products. Which product you choose is entirely your decision; no one can generalize that ‘pads are healthier.’ Let’s not create so much fear surrounding the female body anymore.
