My family thinks the bumper is bad

My family doesn’t want me to use tampons and they’re constantly trying to convince me by saying “tampons are bad for health.” But I only feel comfortable using tampons, and this situation really bothers me. What should I do? Do you think they’re overreacting?

I don’t understand what’s bad about the tampon.

In our house, there was a fixation on hygiene that resulted in pads being imposed, honestly, it had become tiring.

To be frank, how old are you? And how persistent are your parents about it, do they push you a lot?

@yazipsildim I’m 20 years old, and yes, my mom always refers back to this tampon issue whenever there’s a problem. My dad doesn’t get involved, but my mom is enough. It’s the same cycle over and over.

Well, everyone says we’re free and all, but I think when you’re living together, the house rules come into play too. If you’re living in that house, it’s hard to make such a clear exit.

The “bad” perception of tampons is outdated. When used healthily and correctly, there is no harm, but hygiene conditions should be observed. Otherwise, pads can also be harmful to health when used incorrectly.

@benbisorayim yes, but the issue doesn’t end with hygiene; there’s another perception of ‘honor’ in the families’ minds. Solving that is more difficult.

Have you tried talking about this tampon issue directly not just in terms of the product, but more generally about the body and healthy choices? Maybe the discussion goes beyond just a specific product and relates to your own decisions regarding your body. Otherwise, just debating about tampons doesn’t seem to lead anywhere.
