My mom saw my boyfriend on Instagram and interrogated me

I've been dating my girlfriend for a few weeks now, and we got close pretty quickly, but everything seemed fine. My mom saw a photo we shared on Instagram. She called me and asked a bunch of questions like 'Who is this? Are you serious? Where did you meet?' Honestly, I got really stressed out. I think my girlfriend might be bothered by the fact that there’s an interrogation about someone they haven’t even met or talked to. Should I explain everything to my mom openly or is it better to brush it off? I'm feeling indecisive.

Ah, in this age, youth experiences everything very fast... In the past, families would meet before making acquaintances, and then steps would be taken. Nowadays, everyone immediately presents photos to the public. To be frank, your mother's inquiries aren't unfounded. I think you should slow down a bit and, if you're serious, involve the families first.

If I were you, I would tell my mom directly. Because these things grow when kept hidden, and it will be harder in the future. Also, if a relationship is going to be serious, being open with the family is part of the effort in the relationship. If you've shared it on Instagram, we could say that the situation is half open already.

I have a question: how did your mom see this person on Instagram and start questioning so thoroughly? The part about figuring out who they are is even interesting. It seems like your mom has some stalking skills. Because of that, I'm not really sure if your boyfriend would be okay with it.
