After a discussion, I clearly told my mom about an issue with my girlfriend, thinking she would understand me. But she immediately went and told my dad. Now they’re constantly talking behind my back and blaming me. Should I avoid involving them again to not speak ill of my girlfriend, or is it better to talk openly and share my feelings?

7I once told my mom about something that happened with my girlfriend, and everything blew up. I wouldn’t say it was an exaggeration, but trust also goes out the window. I think you should talk less ![]()
Did your dad come directly and tell you that they are talking behind your back, or did you hear and find out yourself? ![]()
@pazardandondum my dad suddenly started throwing shade, I asked my mom and she admitted what he said. I didn’t talk about it anymore.
Since you told your eye, it could have been something very hot. If you can’t keep it inside, you just have to wait for results like this. They are right too; they didn’t want to know ![]()
In this case, expectation management is critical. This means that if you are sharing something with the family, there is a possibility it could turn into gossip. Speaking without setting clear boundaries can lead to such outcomes.
@uykuarasi what a ridiculous comment, can a person never consult their mother about anything? I think we should look at the logical side of this.
to resolve the issue: you either completely hide it, or you establish a common ground for problem-solving. I think if you believe they can be neutral, just openly close the subject ![]()
