My friends want a cheaper house, but I don’t

I was living with my family, but now I want to stand on my own two feet. However, making decisions about budgets with my friend group is very difficult. We were going to rent a house together, but my friends are constantly looking for cheaper, less expensive places. I prefer to live in a slightly better area since it's my first time moving out, and I want to feel at peace. How do you think we can find a middle ground? Should we look for a more affordable house, or should I consider separating from them?

I had moved in with three people too, and I lasted 3 months. Everyone has different expectations. I think it's best to clarify things from the start, otherwise it leads to constant unrest 🫢

So you say you're considering leaving the team; can you get along with these people in general? Or do you always have conflicts like this?

@kahvebitmeden we actually understand each other well, but when it comes to money, things get complicated. Besides, they had already moved in together before. I guess I’m just extra sensitive since it’s my first time.

@biseydiycem should we just give up because everyone has different expectations? I think these kinds of things can be discussed beforehand; there's no rule that says it has to fall apart in three months 🫢

Work out the budget on paper so that it's clear where and how much your expenses will be. Everyone may have different comfort expectations based on their limits, but if there's no consensus on essential expenses, it simply won't be resolved.

if the issue is peace, then don't get involved at all.

it's unclear what will come out of here; it's hard to comment without knowing the budget per person.

You said your friends have lived together before. Since they’ve already been through this, they might be tougher when it comes to the financial side of things. Do they understand your sensitivity, or do they always just insist on doing things their own way? I’d say it’s worth taking a closer look at that balance.
