I tried on a dress, but was it too daring?

I wanted to add something new to my wardrobe. I saw a dress in the store, it's slightly low-cut but very stylish. I tried it on and liked it, but honestly, it seems like it will be hard to muster the courage to wear it. Do you think bold clothing is a style choice or is it a bit over the top? Would I be flirting, or would it look weird? I'm torn.

I think it's completely normal, especially since the store employee said it looked nice, so I don't think it's bad. I also tried on a dress the other day after class, I went with my friend, and hers was a bit revealing too, but everyone is making it a big deal in my eyes. Just relax, after all, everyone is trying things on now.

I went through the same thing last month, I swear. There was a wedding, I tried on a dress to get for it, and the back was a bit exposed. At first, I hesitated, but it didn't draw too much attention; it looked quite stylish. Even in casual life, such things have become normal, I don't think it looks weird at all.

I think you shouldn't be so relaxed about it; the store employees' job is to say that everything looks good on you. So I can't say they made it just for you. Also, if you don't feel comfortable, it seems to me that it would be better not to buy it 🤦‍♀️

The cut of a dress is very important according to body type; what looks elegant as a subtle décolleté on someone else can appear exaggerated on you, or the opposite might be true. For example, if your upper body is longer, back details work better, but if your legs are more prominent, a completely different model might suit you. You might want to consider consulting a tailor or someone who is knowledgeable about sewing.

Let me write it as an update, I thought about it last night and didn't buy the dress, but it's still on my mind. I would say my body type is slim-tall, and the dress has a bit of an open back, it's a little short, but not too much. I also asked my friends, some said it's classy, some said it's bold. So I'm still undecided.

You say you didn't buy a dress, but it seems like you haven't taken your friends' comments into account. Were the comments from those who said it was stylish more detailed, or did they just say it was nice or something? Also, have you ever thought about wearing something flirty at all? 🙂

The feeling of indecision is very familiar. You literally look in the mirror with an outfit and say 'this is so nice,' and then five minutes later you're in 'no way, I can't do it' mode. I experienced the same thing last month; if someone is going to feel comfortable in public, they should just wear it 🙂

I think take it and put it in the closet, don’t rush. I mean, if you wear it, you can use it with another outfit later. You can throw on a blazer over it or try it with sneakers, so it looks more casual. Later on, as you get more comfortable, you can wear it in other settings too.

I had also bought a mini dress with a back cutout for an invitation, and it waited in my closet for a long time. But then I got some courage from somewhere, put it together, wore my heels, and everyone loved it. It can be hard to wear at first, but once you get used to it, you really feel good, I swear.
