I think you shouldn't dwell on it too much. If the guy and the girl have made a statement saying they are just friends, then no one should make such a big deal out of it. If there were a different situation, someone would openly say it anyway 😂

In our culture, most people are already distant towards very close friendships between men and women. If people are going to keep talking like this, it would be better to draw a line for their comfort.
