I prefer wearing dark-colored underwear during my period so that stains don’t show. I find it a lot easier since I struggle a lot with white underwear during this time. I shared this with a friend in our circle; we usually talk about these kinds of things. But they made such an open joke that even the people at the next table paid attention to the situation. Should I just laugh it off and forget about it, or should I set some boundaries? What would you do in this situation?

5I had a similar experience once. I shared something about birth control pills in a group of friends, and someone made a joke about it, in front of everyone. In the moment, I let it slide, but later I drew the line on the topic; I said it seriously. They might not know the proper place and time for that kind of joke, but it shouldn’t happen in such a public setting.
Did the person you’re talking about always push boundaries like this? If this isn’t the first time, I think it’s worth discussing.
@kirmizikazak actually hasn’t done something similar before, so I was a bit taken aback at that moment. I was caught between laughing it off and remaining silent.
@uykuarasi I don’t think everything should immediately be made into a ‘drawing the line’ issue. Since you brought up the topic, we should be able to handle a bit of humor. Everyone has a different threshold after all ![]()
It’s better to communicate something personal like this in a more discreet way among friends. Everyone has different boundaries of privacy. Topics like this can remain a bit more private ![]()
