Which is better: tea tree oil or salicylic acid?

I'm looking for a product for the recent breakouts, and I have two options: tea tree oil or a salicylic acid serum. My friend said, 'go natural, tea tree oil is really good,' but on the other hand, salicylic acid seems to have more scientific effects. Which one has worked better for you? Should I try both? What should I do?

I had also tried tea tree oil like you did, it helped a bit with the acne but didn’t fully solve it. Then I got a salicylic acid serum, and my pores cleared up. To be honest, I think salicylic acid is more effective, it's spot on for both acne and blackheads.

There's this thing called natural, right? Everyone has declared it sacred. Tea tree oil is chemical after all, just because it comes from nature doesn't guarantee it will be miraculous. I mean, something that has a scientific basis is always more rational, in my opinion.

Actually, both work in different ways. Tea tree oil is beneficial for bacterial acne due to its antimicrobial properties; salicylic acid, on the other hand, works inside the pores to cleanse oil and dead skin. Instead of trying both at the same time, it would be more sensible to start with one and observe the reaction.

Let me update now, by the way, the moisturizer I'm using is oil-based. I'm also curious if there would be a conflict with any of these products; if you have any suggestions, I'm waiting.

You guys are contradicting each other. One group says to go completely natural, while the other group says science, chemistry, and so on. There are people who are allergic to tea tree oil; just saying it's scientific doesn’t solve everything. After all, everyone’s skin reacts differently.
