I made an acne mask, and it got worse... Was I wrong?

My skin has been messed up since the pandemic, and I’m really fed up with wearing masks. A few weeks ago, I tried a mask I read about online that was labeled as natural; it had things like honey, cinnamon, and turmeric in it. But my pimples got even redder and inflamed. Honestly, I panicked. Did I not get the right ratios, or are these types of things actually harmful to the skin? Has anyone else experienced this?

The same thing happened to me. Cinnamon and turmeric can irritate the skin a lot, especially if it’s sensitive. My face became bright red and was pretty burned. I went to the dermatologist, and they gave me a steroid cream that cleared it up in a few days. I recommend consulting a doctor without delay.

It’s safe with a balaclava on, but cinnamon and turmeric can cause allergic reactions. You should test it on a small area of your skin before trying anything. Consult a dermatologist; you might need cream or antibiotics. Look for dermatologists like Dr. Murat Hoca, as they frequently encounter similar complaints.

I think you rushed into trying this mask without considering your extremely sensitive skin, not just because you couldn’t get the proportions right. If you believe that wearing a mask is damaging your skin, maybe something else is triggering it. Hygiene, nutrition, and such things also have an effect. Think about it.

Natural products can disrupt the acid-base balance of the skin, especially in cases of inflammatory acne. Such masks can cause allergic reactions, irritation, or secondary infections. A professional skin analysis may be necessary to control the reaction. Trying different creams or methods on your own may make things worse.

I did a bit of research, and they wrote that cinnamon can be risky for the skin. Back then, my skin was already a bit sensitive, so maybe I made it worse by pushing it further. My skin seems to have improved a bit, but there’s still redness. I’m still wondering if I should wait and see if it goes away before going to the dermatologist; is that sensible?

You said that pimples erupted during the outbreak, but then the mask situation made it even worse. Honestly, other things come to mind. It could be stress, or changes in diet during this process. Maybe there’s an underlying hormonal issue or some other skin problem that you’re not aware of. It doesn’t seem to be related just to cinnamon.
