I thought I was having labor pains, but then I had a gas problem

I think I overreacted. I suddenly started having cramps last night, I genuinely thought I was going into labor. I immediately woke my partner and called my mom, and so on. But then nothing happened, and when I woke up in the morning, it turned out to be gas pains. I'm only in my thirty-eighth week; I can't even face anyone anymore. Have you ever experienced something like this?

Oh well, I experienced the same thing with my first child. I thought I was in labor for hours, then suddenly let out a gas and felt relieved. During pregnancy, your intestines shift around, so these types of things are normal, but you still feel embarrassed. Just look at it as a funny memory.

I think you've done the right thing by waking your spouse up right away. Whether it's labor or gas, the worst fear is "what if it starts and I'm caught off guard." For my second child, I went to the hospital just in case; the doctor smiled and sent me home. That's okay, it's good to act early.

But you really shouldn't exaggerate this much. If you think it's labor pain without feeling gas cramps, I don't know, I think you should do a bit of research. You've practically raised a stir, I don't know, it seems like you should calm down a bit.

It’s actually quite common to confuse gas pain with labor pain. Both can cause a feeling of pressure in the abdominal area. However, labor contractions usually have a specific pattern, such as occurring every 10 minutes, and the intervals shorten over time. Gas pain is more irregular. If you're not sure, it's best to call your doctor.

Let me add one more thing, I usually understand gas pain quite well. But this time it was very severe, it felt like it was coming in waves. And since it was at 3 a.m., I panicked, of course. Now that I write it down, it seems a bit funny.

Did you change your position during the contractions? For example, lying on your back or on your side can help relieve gas a bit. However, the pain does not decrease during labor contractions. Had you tried that at the time?

Honestly, that girl has a lot of courage. If it were my mom, she would have destroyed me for waking everyone up at night saying there's gas escaping. Everyone would say, 'let's not panic,' so it's really hard for us to take action early. Still, be careful of course, it's birth, there's no joking around with that.
