My roommate keeps eating my food, should I talk to them?

When I'm at home, I open my fridge, and the food I've put in is either gone or diminished. I know who's doing it, but I'm hesitant to say anything to their face for fear it might cause an unpleasant situation. Maybe they're doing it without realizing, but do you think this is a sign of something health-related? How should I approach it before saying anything?

I’ve experienced the same thing; it’s so frustrating. My old roommate used to go through my snacks all the time. I finally told them straightforwardly, they were really upset but they didn’t do it again. I think you should just speak directly, otherwise it’ll keep happening 🫠

If I had a daughter, I would definitely confront her and tell her. No one takes offense to what's in the closet, it's that simple. You should also speak clearly but gently, otherwise, things will get out of hand.

But clearly, if you're this uncomfortable without talking, it seems like you've left things a bit open as well. I mean, why didn't you consider storing your meals in a special container or leaving a note in the fridge?

In fact, direct communication is the healthiest approach in such situations. Perhaps, as you mentioned, an unwanted habit has developed without realization; it’s difficult to break this cycle without talking. However, pay attention to how you communicate and avoid blaming.

You're absolutely right, what you said made me think. Actually, I just realized that maybe they can use the things they shared with me a couple of times as an excuse. I don't know, but I guess I will need to talk about it.

There’s something else going on here, I mean, people don’t just randomly start messing with someone else’s stuff. Maybe you should observe a bit more what’s happening when you’re not around 🤷‍♀️
