They learned my wedding date in the neighborhood, and now they're putting pressure on me!

I had to explain my wedding date to the neighbors because there were curious eyes on me. Now everyone knows my date and keeps asking questions, like "When is it going to happen?" This situation is making me extremely uncomfortable; I feel like I'm under pressure. I'm thinking about what kind of image I will have in people's eyes. How do you think I can overcome this?

I had the same thing happen to me too. In our neighborhood, once history is mentioned, it feels like everyone acts as if they were part of the organization. It seemed exaggerated to me at first, but eventually, I got used to it; honestly, I couldn't do much about it.

this is somewhat a matter of our culture. it seems to have become normal for the neighborhood and the community to get involved in the wedding host's affairs. but i think there's no bad intention, people are probably asking out of curiosity.

@kahvebitmeden So we're going to swallow everything as normal then, right? I think people should know their place. No one has the right to interfere in someone else's wedding organization 🙂

There's no need to escalate this much. You can politely answer when asked and keep it brief. Or just don't give a date again, quietly prepare yourself instead 🥲

Why did you announce the wedding date in the middle of the neighborhood? Did you make a collective announcement like that, or did someone learn it just in passing?

I actually said it while talking on the phone in front of the neighbors. Then the word spread, and I couldn't fix it. Suddenly, everyone found out, you see 🙃

@aklimkaldi then let me put it clearly, you spread it yourself. You need to be careful with things like this from the start 🥲

I think don't talk, don't explain to anyone. It is what it is 😂

@cokdaseyapma okay, but why aren't we focusing on what people are spreading? Why does it have to be on everyone's lips?
